Mysore -Bangalore Express highway (India’s infra )

Generally, I don’t enjoy traveling long distances by road. However, on the last day, circumstances led me to travel from Calicut to Bangalore by road. I was en route to Pune from Bangalore, and due to timing constraints, taking a flight from Calicut to Babgalore wasn’t an option. The National Board of Examination arranged a cab for me for the journey. Despite not being a regular road traveler, I found myself compelled to undertake this journey.
Interestingly, when I consulted Google Maps, it estimated a travel time of approximately 9 hours( Calicut to Bangalore ) .To my surprise, the actual travel time turned out to be only six hours. This discrepancy was due to the recent opening of a new express highway from Mysore to Bangalore, which significantly reduced the overall travel duration. The highway boasts a beautiful design, featuring ten lanes on each side and service roads. It’s truly remarkable, and I hope to see more such highways built in Kerala as well.
My classmate, Dr. MK Munir, proposed an express highway in Kerala from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram in 2005 during his tenure as the PWD minister. Regrettably, opposition parties objected to the proposal and raised numerous illogical arguments, leading to statewide protests. Such was the political climate in Kerala at that time. Reflecting on the past, had that express highway been realized back then, how different Kerala could have been.
