This file pic represents an old and sweet memory from Calicut Medical college, 1983- 1984 , I received a memento from Prof. Anna mani , Prof and Head of Social and Preventive Medicine also NSS Program officer ,Calicut medical college. I was the NSS secretary , who was instrumental to organize a 10 day NSS camp and we the NSS volunteers did a village home visit survey in Perumanna Panchayat and identified that hookworm infestation was one of the major Healthcare issues in the village and poor sanitary facilities in the village . The NSS camp constructed 15 latrines in the village. Dr Anvarudheen MN who identified me as the NSS secretary and pushed into a 10 day camp. Perhaps, this was the first one in the medical college NSS 10 day camp series history. Prof.CKJayarm Panicker (Principal ) visited one of the camp days in the village and inspired us. Approximately, 75 Medical , Dental and Nursing students participated in the survey and our “swatch Perumanna” mission Forty years ago.
